Pakistan political developments and SECP business reforms

In Pakistan, senior People's Party leader Manzoor Wasan has predicted a difficult political period ahead for PTI founder Imran Khan. Speaking during a meeting with party leaders, Wasan expressed surprise at the quick support for new provinces by Khan and his party, noting that the people and assembly of Sindh have already rejected such proposals. Wasan also commented on the political climate regarding the Governor's role in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the lack of visible protest movements from JUI.

On the economic front, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has streamlined the company registration process. SECP Director Syla Jamshed stated that the transition to a centralized online system has significantly simplified procedures by integrating portals with the FBR and EOBI. This digital shift has moved the process away from physical document submission, helping to improve the country's World Bank banking reports. The SECP aims to increase annual company registrations from approximately 10,000 to over 45,000.
