Pakistan political leaders debate rule of law and Imran Khan's health

Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has emphasized that creating more provinces will not resolve Pakistan's systemic issues without the establishment of the rule of law. Speaking at a Vision for Pakistan debate, Abbasi argued that the current system is failing both the provinces and the federation. He noted that following the 18th Amendment, resources have shifted to the provinces, but he criticized the lack of oversight in how those resources are utilized, suggesting some provincial leadership operates with unchecked authority.

Concurrently, the joint parliamentary opposition party met to discuss the political situation and the health of PTI founder Imran Khan. The group expressed deep concern regarding Khan's medical condition, stating that no compromise will be accepted regarding his treatment. The opposition also accused the government of failing to implement Supreme Court orders, labeling the inaction as contempt of court. They announced plans to seek legal recourse through the Supreme Court and reaffirmed their commitment to large-scale protests, including a planned demonstration on September 27.
