Pakistan political leaders propose dialogue to resolve regional and national tensions

Political leaders in Pakistan are addressing regional and national tensions through calls for dialogue and formal proposals.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti stated that the government is ready for political negotiations to resolve issues within the framework of the constitution and law. However, he emphasized that the state will not negotiate with those who take up arms or cause the loss of innocent lives, asserting that the state's authority and citizen protection are non-negotiable. Bugti highlighted that sustainable solutions for Balochistan require effective governance, meritocracy, economic development, and bridging the gap between the state and the youth.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has presented a seven-point draft for negotiations with the government. Afridi expressed frustration, claiming his people are being treated like ‘second-class citizens’ and receiving ‘stepmotherly treatment’ from the state. The draft includes demands for regular meetings between the Prime Minister and opposition leaders, the formation of a joint political negotiation committee, and the guaranteed provision of legal, human, and medical rights for Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in accordance with the constitution.
