Pakistan Privatisation Commission Sets EOI Deadlines for First DISCO Privatization Batch
The Privatisation Commission (PC) Board, chaired by Muhammad Ali, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Privatisation, approved a restructuring framework for the first batch of power distribution companies slated for privatisation. The plan covers Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO), Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) and Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO). A government‑owned special purpose vehicle will be created to separate selected assets and liabilities, aiming to maximise value for the state while ensuring commercial viability for private investors.
Investor interest from domestic and international parties was noted. The board set the following deadlines for Expressions of Interest: FESCO – 7 August 2026, GEPCO – 21 August 2026, IESCO – 7 September 2026. In related matters, two Transaction Committees were formed to oversee the outsourcing of Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi airports; the Asian Development Bank was appointed financial adviser for Islamabad International Airport, while advisers for the other airports are being selected. Auditors RSM Avais Hyder Liaquat Nauman and BDO Ebrahim & Co were approved for privatisation transaction audits and annual audits respectively.
