Pakistan pushes accelerated development in Balochistan and Rawalpindi

President Asif Ali Zardari met Balochistan provincial ministers at Bilawal House in Karachi, urging a faster pace of development, better coordination among departments, and improved law‑and‑order conditions. He directed institutions to provide basic facilities, enhance security, and increase economic activity, stressing the province’s top priority status. The meeting included ministers Sadiq Umrani, Zahoor Buledi, Mir Bakht Kakar and Sardar Faisal Jamali.

In Rawalpindi, Commissioner Salman Ghani inspected three major infrastructure projects – the Qasim Market Development, the Race Course Chowk Development, and a 1,400 mm water‑supply pipeline on Syedpur Road. The market and chowk projects aim to serve roughly 182,000 and 250,000 vehicles daily respectively, with completion targeted for June 2027. The water pipeline, about 70 % finished, is expected by 20 August 2026 and will improve clean‑drinking‑water supply. Ghani called for expedited work, safety measures during the monsoon season, and close inter‑departmental coordination.
