Pakistan pushes export-friendly policy as Saudi investors eye $10 billion
President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sardar Tahir Mehmood, called for a long‑term, predictable export policy to boost Pakistan’s industrial output, employment and macro‑economic stability. He highlighted high costs, energy prices, complex taxes and limited market access as barriers and urged the government to simplify procedures, provide affordable financing and support technology upgrades.
Federal Minister for the Board of Investment, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, met a delegation from Saudi‑based Falcon Vision Group, which signaled interest in investing up to US$10 billion across infrastructure, construction, technology and other sectors in Pakistan. The minister emphasized Pakistan’s investor‑friendly regime, including tax‑free special economic zones until 2035, duty‑free import of plant and machinery, one‑stop business facilitation centres and 100 % profit repatriation.
