Pakistan Railways investigates increase in freight train derailments

Pakistan Railways Chairman Syed Mazhar Ali Shah visited the Karachi Marshalling Yard following an increase in freight train derailments, which have caused significant financial losses due to damage to cargo bogies and railway installations.

During the visit, officials reported that all bogies of the Rehman Baba Express derailed, resulting in over 10 injuries. Chairman Shah has directed officials to ensure that ongoing repair and maintenance work is completed according to safety standards and specified timelines to make railway operations safer and more reliable.
