Pakistan Railways to restore suspended train services

Pakistan Railways has announced a phased plan to restore suspended passenger train services to improve intercity connectivity. Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi stated that the Mohenjo Daro Express is scheduled to resume operations on September 15. Additionally, a new service between Sialkot and Rawalpindi, reportedly named the Marka-i-Haq, is set to begin on October 15.

These restorations are part of a broader effort to modernize the country’s aging railway network. The government is also preparing for the Main Line-1 (ML-1) project, a major upgrade to the Karachi-Peshawar railway artery. Minister Abbasi noted that preparations for ML-1 have reached their final stages, with work expected to commence in January. The ML-1 project, which has faced previous delays, is intended to transform the railway system.
