Pakistan receives $763 million in foreign assistance during July

Pakistan received a total of $763 million (approximately 215 billion PKR) in foreign economic assistance during July 2026. According to Ministry of Economic Affairs documents, the vast majority of this support—roughly 97%—was in the form of loans, while $18.37 million was provided as grants.

Key contributors included China, which provided $146.62 million, and multilateral financial institutions, which contributed a combined $252.83 million. Within the multilateral group, the World Bank provided the largest share at $130 million, followed by the Asian Development Bank with $59.17 million and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank with $6.57 million. Other contributors included the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Islamic Development Bank, the International Fund for Agricultural Development, and the OPEC Fund.

Bilateral support included $9.94 million from Germany and $7.4 million from Saudi Arabia. Additionally, there was a significant increase in funds obtained through Naya Pakistan Certificates, which rose to $343.99 million compared to $196.22 million during the same month of the previous fiscal year. The funds were utilized for budget support, short-term loans, and project funding.
