Pakistan Red Crescent Society marks International Youth and Humanitarian Law Days

The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) held a ceremony at its National Headquarters to observe International Youth Day and International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Day. The event, titled ‘Youth as Advocates for a Better Tomorrow’, brought together diplomats, humanitarian organizations, and representatives from the IFRC, ICRC, and various national Red Cross societies.

PRCS Chairperson Farzhana Naek emphasized the role of youth in protecting human dignity and building a better future. She highlighted the ‘Red Million Initiative’, which aims to strengthen the volunteer network by providing young people with the training and skills necessary to support vulnerable communities during emergencies. Naek also urged youth to combat harmful information by verifying facts before sharing content online.

Andreas von Weissenberg, the IFRC Head of Delegation, addressed the humanitarian risks posed by harmful information. Citing the World Disasters Report 2026, he noted that such information can act as a humanitarian crisis by undermining aid access, eroding trust, and destabilizing social cohesion.
