Pakistan Rejects Indian Defence Minister's Kashmir Remarks

Pakistan’s defence minister, Khawaja Asif, has categorically dismissed remarks made by India’s defence minister, Rajnath Singh, regarding the status of Jammu and Kashmir. Asif stated that no statement can alter the internationally recognised legal status of the Indian‑occupied region and condemned the remarks as an attempt to distort facts and endanger regional peace.

The Pakistani foreign office echoed the condemnation, calling the Indian comments “highly provocative and irresponsible.” Islamabad urged the United Nations, particularly the Security Council, to enforce resolutions that uphold the Kashmiri people’s right to self‑determination and to hold India accountable for its rhetoric.

Both officials stressed that such statements do not contribute to dialogue or stability, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security.
