Pakistan rejects India's claims over Jammu and Kashmir status

Pakistan has rejected assertions made by India regarding the status of Jammu and Kashmir, labeling the claims baseless and contrary to internationally recognized facts. The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Ambassador Sajjad Haider Khan, responded to statements from India’s Ministry of External Affairs concerning official maps of the region.

Pakistan maintains that the status of Jammu and Kashmir remains an unresolved dispute on the United Nations Security Council agenda. The Pakistani government emphasized that relevant UN resolutions require the final disposition of the territory to be determined through a free and impartial plebiscite under UN auspices to reflect the will of the Kashmiri people.

According to the Pakistani Foreign Office, official United Nations maps continue to depict Jammu and Kashmir as a disputed territory, which they argue is the only valid cartographic representation of its legal status. Pakistan urged the international community to address alleged human rights violations in the region and to ensure the right to self-determination for the Kashmiri people.
