Pakistan religious scholars condemn Swat suicide attack, urge support for security forces

Religious scholars and spiritual leaders representing all schools of thought under the National Paigham-e-Aman Committee issued a joint statement condemning the suicide attack in Swat, calling it a heinous act that contradicts Islamic teachings. The statement expressed grief for the victims, prayed for the injured and the families of the deceased, and cited Quranic verses that forbid killing oneself and harming others.

The committee reiterated that suicide bombings and terrorism are prohibited under the Paigham‑e‑Pakistan Fatwa and labeled the perpetrators as adhering to the ideology of Fitna‑e‑Khawarij. It called on the public to support the Pakistan Armed Forces, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and other law‑enforcement agencies in their effort to eliminate terrorism and protect citizens, describing such support as both a national and religious obligation.
