Pakistan reports 3,172 violence cases in first half of 2026
Pakistan recorded 3,172 new cases of violence during the first half of 2026, according to a report cited by Samaa TV. The figures include 644 murder cases and 462 kidnapping cases.
Gender-based violence remains a significant issue, with 132 reported honour killings during the six-month period. Data indicates that in approximately 27 per cent of these cases, the alleged perpetrators were acquaintances of the victims, while husbands were identified as the accused in 13 per cent of murder cases. There is also a noted trend of high involvement in killing and murder cases among individuals between the ages of 21 and 30.
Geographically, the Punjab province reported the highest concentration of violence, accounting for 74 per cent of the total incidents. Sindh recorded 17 per cent, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa accounted for 6 per cent. The remaining 3 per cent were distributed across Islamabad, Pakistan-occupied Gilgit-Baltistan, and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
