Pakistan reports trade surplus with US and growth in ICT exports
Pakistan recorded a trade surplus of approximately $480 million with the United States during the first two months of fiscal year 2026–27. Exports to the US reached roughly $1.17 billion, representing a 10.46% year-on-year increase, while imports from the US totaled approximately $690 million. The United States remains Pakistan’s largest export market, driven by demand for textiles, garments, leather goods, and surgical instruments.
In the services sector, Pakistan’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) exports reached $811 million during the same two-month period, marking a 17.37% year-on-year growth. ICT has become the country’s largest services export category, significantly outpacing other business services. The ICT sector also recorded a cumulative trade surplus of $680 million, reflecting a growing contribution to the national economy and foreign exchange earnings.
