Lahore faces severe power outages and load-shedding amid heatwave

Residents in Lahore, Pakistan, are experiencing severe disruptions due to a power sector crisis characterized by frequent power tripping and both scheduled and unscheduled load-shedding. These outages are occurring amidst hot and humid weather conditions, exacerbating the hardship for consumers.

Local reports indicate that power shutdowns lasting over six hours are being implemented on Sundays under the pretext of repair and maintenance. Residents have complained that the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has been unresponsive to grievances and that persistent brownouts have caused damage to household electrical appliances.

LESCO officials have attributed the ongoing electricity crisis to grid overload and high-loss feeders.
