Pakistan security forces repel Afghan border incursions and drone attacks
Pakistani security forces have engaged in multiple confrontations with Afghan militants and Taliban personnel along the border in the Gulistan and Kurram sectors. In one incident, Pakistani air defense systems neutralized eight drones that had entered Pakistani airspace from Afghanistan. In response to these incursions, Pakistan conducted precision aerial and drone strikes against 10 military targets in Afghanistan used for launching and storing drones, which Federal Minister Attaullah Tarar described as a “deliberate, precise, calibrated and proportionate” exercise of the right to self-defense.
In the Kurram sector, security forces blocked an infiltration attempt by militants linked to Fitna al-Khwarij operating from Afghanistan’s Nangarhar and Paktia provinces. Following the failed breach, Afghan Taliban personnel reportedly launched unprovoked gunfire at Pakistani border checkpoints. Pakistani troops responded by striking Afghan Taliban border posts and mortar positions, forcing several units to abandon their forward posts. Security forces remain on high alert to prevent further infiltration and respond to continued instability along the frontier.
