Pakistan seeks expanded Deutsche Bank engagement for investment and financing

Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, met with senior Deutsche Bank officials to discuss the country’s economic outlook and potential for expanded banking engagement. The meeting included Jamal Al Kishi, Regional CEO for the Middle East and Africa, and Ali Haider Zaidi, Country Manager for Pakistan.

Minister Aurangzeb briefed the delegation on Pakistan’s ongoing economic reform agenda, emphasizing progress in fiscal consolidation, macroeconomic stability, and the external account. He highlighted the government’s efforts to transition toward a sustainable, export-led growth model and noted improved credit profile assessments from international rating agencies. The discussions also focused on diversifying external debt and increasing access to international capital markets.

Deutsche Bank’s Al Kishi acknowledged the progress made over the last two years regarding balance-of-payments management, exports, and remittances, stating these improvements provide a stronger foundation for growth. The parties identified several sectors for potential foreign investment, including infrastructure, energy, oil and gas, mining, minerals, technology, and blockchain.
