Pakistan to host 2028 Women’s T20 World Cup
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that Pakistan will serve as the primary host for the 2028 Women’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to take place from September 7 to October 1, 2028. The tournament will feature 12 competing teams.
Due to ongoing political tensions between India and Pakistan, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is expected to request a ‘hybrid model’ for the event, similar to the arrangement used for the 2025 Champions Trophy. Under this model, the majority of matches would be held in Pakistan, while India’s matches would be played at a neutral venue, likely the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The UAE is considered the most practical neutral location due to its proximity to Pakistan, which would simplify logistics, travel, and costs. The final venue arrangements may depend on the tournament's progression; if India reaches the final, the match might be shifted to a neutral venue like Dubai, whereas if they do not, the final could be held in Lahore.
