Pakistan Stock Exchange gains momentum amid falling oil prices

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has demonstrated recent upward momentum, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index experiencing significant gains. In one session, the index surged by over 1,200 points, driven by falling international oil prices and optimism regarding the potential reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. This decline in Brent and WTI crude prices helped ease investor concerns regarding energy costs and supply disruptions.

Investor confidence was further bolstered by Moody’s decision to upgrade Pakistan’s sovereign credit rating from Caa1 to B3 with a stable outlook. The agency noted that improvements in governance are expected to strengthen fiscal metrics and the country's external position.

In subsequent trading, the KSE-100 Index maintained a bullish trend, closing at 177,696.51 points. While the market showed a mixed trend with more companies suffering losses than gaining, the total market capitalization increased to Rs19.885 trillion. High trading volumes were noted in sectors such as banking, with the Bank of Punjab leading the volume charts.
