Pakistan summons Imran Khan's sister Noreen Niazi over interview, raising free‑speech concerns

Pakistan’s National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) summoned former prime minister Imran Khan’s sister, Noreen Niazi, on July 18 after her interview circulated widely on social media. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and colleagues Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Tallal Chaudhry said her remarks were false, offensive, and damaging to Pakistan’s international image and national security.

Jemima Goldsmith, Khan’s former wife, condemned the move as a criminalisation of political speech and a shrinking of public discourse.
