Pakistan Supreme Court schedules hearings for Imran Khan hospital plea and sentence‑suspension petitions
The Supreme Court of Pakistan accepted a chamber appeal by former prime minister Imran Khan, ordering an early fixation of his petition to be transferred to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad and to allow family and personal physicians access. The appeal overcame a registrar’s objection over a missing power of attorney, and the court directed the filing of a signed power of attorney and assignment of a case number, with a related petition by Khan’s sister, Dr Uzma Khan, to be heard together.
Separately, petitioners Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali filed an application with the Supreme Court seeking a prompt hearing of their sentence‑suspension appeals, which had been delayed by the Islamabad High Court. The court dismissed a miscellaneous objection from the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency and adjourned the hearing indefinitely, prompting the petitioners to request an early hearing from the apex court.
Both matters highlight the Supreme Court’s role in adjudicating high‑profile legal requests involving political figures and criminal‑law matters.
