Pakistan tax authorities initiate property auctions and small house tax collections
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has scheduled an auction for October 6, 2026, for a large property in Bahria Golf City, Rawalpindi. The property, which includes a constructed house and 32 kanals and 11 marlas of land, is being sold to recover outstanding tax liabilities totaling approximately Rs. 26.4 billion. This action follows previous FBR recovery efforts involving Bahria Town properties in Murree and Islamabad.
Separately, in the Rawalpindi Division, the Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has begun issuing property tax bills ranging from Rs. 150,000 to Rs. 300,000 to owners of small houses. These properties, measuring between two and three marlas, have been brought back into the tax net to address a 50 per cent collection shortfall from upscale localities and large commercial areas. The department has reportedly begun sealing properties and arresting owners for non-payment, leading to disputes with local residents.
