Pakistan Telecommunication Authority denies internet suspension orders

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has clarified that no formal orders have been issued to suspend or downgrade mobile and internet services in Rawalpindi or Attock. This follows a request from the Punjab Home Department to the federal Ministry of Interior to jam 2G, 3G, and 4G networks at specific locations starting September 27 due to anticipated law-and-order concerns surrounding a planned PTI long march.

While the Punjab government requested service downgrades in certain areas of Rawalpindi and the entire Attock district, PTA officials stated that the authority will only act upon receiving formal instructions from competent federal authorities. As of now, the Ministry of Interior has not issued any such directive. The uncertainty remains for residents and businesses ahead of the scheduled protest activity.
