Pakistan Telecommunication Authority reports wide tariff gaps

A recent report from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) reveals significant price variations across the country’s mobile postpaid and fixed-line broadband sectors.

In the mobile postpaid market, Jazz maintains the highest entry-level cost at Rs1,600 for 15 GB of data. In contrast, Telenor offers the most affordable entry package at Rs600, while Zong and Ufone start at Rs800 and Rs1,000, respectively. The report also notes wide disparities between basic and premium tiers; Telenor shows the largest gap, with its top-tier package costing nearly eight times its entry-level option.

Regarding fixed-line broadband, pricing fluctuates heavily based on speed and provider. Transworld offers the most expensive high-speed service, with a 1,000 Mbps package priced at Rs61,600 per month. PTCL provides more varied options, ranging from Rs2,999 for 10 Mbps DSL to Rs23,000 for 350 Mbps FTTH. Other providers like StormFiber and Optix offer mid-range packages, with StormFiber’s speeds ranging from 2 Mbps to 250 Mbps and Optix providing services up to 200 Mbps.
