Pakistan to host international economic empowerment conference
Pakistan will host the ‘International Conference on Inclusive and Resilient Economic Empowerment and Growth’ in Islamabad on October 13-14. Organized by the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) in collaboration with the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, the event will feature participants from 12 countries.
The conference, themed ‘Poverty to Prosperity’, aims to explore sustainable solutions to poverty, promote inclusive economic growth, and strengthen livelihood resilience through policy dialogue and cross-sector collaboration. Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation Syed Imran Ahmad Shah stated the gathering aligns with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s ‘Uraan Pakistan’ vision to advance public welfare for disadvantaged communities.
The event precedes the United Nations’ International Day for the Eradication of Poverty on October 17. It serves as a platform to assess progress in poverty alleviation and translate policy priorities into tangible development outcomes. This comes as United Nations data indicates nearly 29 percent of Pakistan’s population lives below the poverty line.
