Bangladesh approves 155,000 tons of fertilizer imports from Canada, Russia, and Saudi Arabia
The Bangladesh government has approved the import of 155,000 metric tons of fertilizer from Canada, Russia, and Saudi Arabia to ensure stable domestic agricultural production. The total cost for these shipments is estimated at approximately 983 crore BDT, funded through the government’s agricultural subsidy allocation.
Canada will provide the largest portion, consisting of 80,000 metric tons of Muriate of Potash (MOP) through a government-to-government (G2G) arrangement with Canadian Commercial Corporation. Russia’s JSC Foreign Economic Corporation will supply 35,000 metric tons of MOP, while Saudi Arabia will provide 40,000 metric tons of DAP fertilizer.
The Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) will oversee the implementation of these purchases.
