Pakistani journalists boycott World Nomad Games in Kyrgyzstan
Pakistani sports journalists and the Pakistan Traditional Games Association (PTGA) have announced a complete boycott of the World Nomad Games 2026 in Kyrgyzstan. The protest follows allegations of mismanagement by Kyrgyz sports authorities.
Journalists claim that organizers failed to fulfill commitments regarding essential facilities, including accreditation, accommodation, food, and transport. In response to these grievances, media representatives intend to file a formal complaint with the International Sports Press Association (AIPS), arguing that the treatment of Pakistani media violates international standards.
The boycott occurs while more than 80 Pakistani athletes are competing in various disciplines at the event. Observers have expressed concern that the lack of media coverage may negatively impact athlete morale and reduce the visibility of their performances within Pakistan.
