Pakistan's Babar Azam, Mohammad Abbas Rise in ICC Rankings After West Indies Test

In the first Test of the series between Pakistan and the West Indies, the Caribbean side secured a 90‑run victory. Pakistani bowlers Mohammad Abbas and Khurram Shahzad each received one demerit point for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct by using aggressive gestures after dismissals; Shahzad was fined 15% of his match fee and Abbas was given an official reprimand. Abbas also claimed a five‑wicket haul in the match.

Following the game, the International Cricket Council published its latest player rankings. Pakistan captain Babar Azam moved up four places to 15th in the Test batting rankings, while fast bowler Mohammad Abbas jumped nine places to 17th in the Test bowling rankings. Other Pakistani players experienced declines, and the rankings highlighted the performances of players from Australia, India, Afghanistan and New Zealand across formats.
