Pakistan's Federal Board of Revenue Launches Tax Filing Support Service and Reports Rs1.87 Trillion Collected via Power‑
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in Pakistan announced a new dedicated technical support service for taxpayers filing Income Tax Returns for Tax Year 2026. Taxpayers experiencing system‑related problems can report their issues by emailing a special address, and the FBR says the team will reply within 24 hours to minimise delays and improve the online filing experience.
Separately, the FBR disclosed that it has collected a total of Rs1.866 trillion in sales tax and income tax through electricity bills over the last four fiscal years. Collections rose from Rs312.8 bn in FY2022‑23 to Rs476.1 bn in FY2025‑26, with Rs351.8 bn of sales tax and Rs124.4 bn of income tax recovered in the most recent year. The board refuted media reports claiming a Rs620 bn collection for the last fiscal year, labeling those figures as inaccurate.
