Pakistan’s first ambassador to Armenia presents credentials

Shafqat Ali Khan has officially assumed his role as Pakistan’s first ambassador to Armenia. During a ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Yerevan, Khan presented his Letters of Credence to Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral ties, with both nations identifying trade, investment, education, culture, and people-to-people contacts as primary areas for future cooperation. President Khachaturyan expressed readiness to support efforts to expand engagement between the two countries.

Ambassador Khan, who also serves as Pakistan’s ambassador to the UAE, conveyed greetings from Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Prior to meeting the President, Khan held discussions with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan to review the bilateral agenda and regional developments. This appointment follows the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Armenia in August 2025.
