Pakistan's Proposed CSR Bill to Mandate Corporate Community Contributions

The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Bill, 2026, introduced in Pakistan, would require eligible profit‑making companies to adopt a board‑approved CSR policy, oversee implementation through their boards, and disclose activities in annual reports. The legislation identifies priority areas such as education, healthcare, environmental protection, disaster response, community development, women’s empowerment, vocational training and research, and places regulatory oversight with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP). While the bill does not impose obligations on NGOs, it could create new partnership opportunities for civil‑society organisations that have expertise in delivering projects in the listed sectors. The proposal signals a shift from voluntary CSR practices toward a structured, transparent framework that integrates social and environmental responsibilities into corporate governance.
