Pakistan's SIFC clears $200 million Barite Lead Zinc mine in Balochistan

The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) resolved long‑standing lease issues for the Barite Lead Zinc (BLZ) Project in Khuzdar, Balochistan, unlocking a $200 million investment. The mine, a joint venture between Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) and Bolan Mining Enterprises (BME), will operate for an estimated 34 years and contains about 69 million tons of mineral reserves.

The project is expected to generate annual revenues of $150‑230 million, boost mineral exports, create employment and support economic development in Balochistan. The Operational Agreement was signed at the Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum 2025, marking the start of the implementation phase and demonstrating the government’s effort to improve the investment climate for the mining sector.
