Pakua Shipi Police seek continued cooperation from new government

The Pakua Shipi Police Force has issued a statement following the provincial election, expressing hope that the incoming government maintains the collaborative relationship established by Ian Lafrenière.

Lafrenière, who served as Deputy Premier and Minister responsible for Public Security and Relations with First Nations and Inuit, was praised by the force for his accessibility and constructive dialogue. The police organization highlighted a strong bond of mutual respect and emphasized the importance of maintaining this openness during the political transition.

The community, which has a population of approximately 300, is currently undergoing infrastructure improvements. Construction began in September on a new $13.3 million police station, a project co-funded by the Government of Canada (52%) and the Government of Quebec (48%).
