Palacký University biostimulant enters European agricultural market

Scientists from Palacký University Olomouc have developed a European-patented biostimulant designed to enhance the growth and vitality of cereals. The British company INTRACROP has secured an exclusive license to use the technology, which will be distributed across Europe.

Developed by researchers at the Czech Institute of Research and Advanced Technologies (CATRIN), the substance is applied as a seed treatment. This method reduces the required amount of the product and simplifies application for farmers. The biostimulant helps plants utilize nutrients, particularly nitrogen, more efficiently, which can lead to reduced fertilizer consumption and improved economic benefits for agricultural producers.

INTRACROP has conducted over 80 field trials across Europe, primarily on cereals, reporting an average yield increase of 0.32 tons per hectare. The company plans to integrate the technology, labeled as TFU, into its product line and is exploring further applications, including studies on phosphorus utilization to support root system development.
