Palafrugell supports Vins i Licors Grau for 2027 Creu de Sant Jordi
The Palafrugell City Council has unanimously approved an institutional motion to support the candidacy of Vins i Licors Grau, SA for the 2027 Creu de Sant Jordi award. The initiative aims to recognize the company’s 50-year history and its significant economic, cultural, and social contributions to the municipality.
The local government is opening a period for public support, allowing citizens to submit individual adhesions via the municipal participation portal before the official file is presented to the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
Founded on a family tradition dating back to 1951 and formally established in 1977, the company has grown to employ approximately 67 to 70 people through its Vins i Licors Grau and Distribuïdora Gironina entities. The business distributes roughly eight million bottles annually and plays a key role in promoting Catalan wines, specifically those from the DO Empordà designation. Its wine shop features approximately 2,000 Catalan wine references, including 400 from nearly forty different wineries within the DO Empordà region.
