Palagonia: Man arrested after stealing car and attacking Carabinieri

A 42-year-old man was arrested in Palagonia after allegedly stealing a vehicle and attacking Carabinieri officers. The incident began when a woman reported finding her compact minivan, which had been reported stolen earlier that morning.

During a search of the surrounding area, officers discovered the man hiding in a dark niche. The suspect, who was the woman's former partner and had been identified by her in the initial theft report, reportedly became verbally abusive and physically attacked the officers when confronted.

Upon being detained, police found the keys to the stolen vehicle in his possession. He faces multiple charges, including theft, resistance to a public official, personal injury to a public official, and contempt of a public official. He has been transferred to the Caltagirone prison.
