Palaiochito hosts traditional Cypriot food festival

The Palaiochito Community Council is organizing the Palaiochito Festival, titled ‘Dance of the Poureki’, on Sunday, September 20. The event is dedicated to the traditional Cypriot dish known as poureki.

Scheduled from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the festival features demonstrations of poureki preparation and roasting. Additionally, visitors can observe the making of halloumi and anari, two other staples of Cypriot gastronomy.

For children, the festival includes activities such as face painting, arts and crafts, and a photo booth. A special session led by Chef Christiana allows children to participate in making their own poureki. The event aims to pass down knowledge of Cypriot culinary traditions to younger generations through an immersive experience.
