Palamut prices fluctuate across Turkey due to catch volume and fish size

The palamut fishing season in Turkey is seeing significant fluctuations in price and availability across different regions due to fish size and catch volume.

In the Black Sea region, an abundance of fish has led to a sharp decrease in prices, with some vendors dropping the cost from 100 lira to 50 lira per piece. Fishermen report that they have reduced profit margins to ensure the fish remains affordable for the public.

In contrast, Çanakkale has seen prices per piece rise from 100 lira to between 125 and 150 lira. This increase is attributed to the fish growing larger, with some specimens reaching nearly one kilogram due to favorable sea conditions.

In Elazığ, palamut is sold by weight rather than by the piece. The price has reached 250 lira per kilogram, a significant decrease from the 700-800 lira range seen last year, driven by the current season's high supply.
