Palang Merah Indonesia strengthens disaster response with Korean aid and new fundraising drive

Palang Merah Indonesia (PMI) received a logistics package from South Korea's Community Chest and Samsung, consisting of 3,800 tarps, mattresses, hygiene kits and blankets. The items have been distributed to PMI warehouses in Jakarta, Serang, Gresik, Padang, Semarang, Batam, Gorontalo, Manado, West and East Nusa Tenggara, and will be used to replenish stock through 2027, enabling faster assistance during emergencies such as the fire response in Sukabumi caused by El Niño.

In Central Java, the Karanganyar regency launched the 2026 "Bulan Dana PMI" fundraising campaign, running from 1 August to 31 October. The drive aims to collect Rp1.397 billion to support PMI services, including blood supply, disaster relief, fire aid and 24‑hour volunteer readiness. Local officials, including Deputy Regent Adhe Eliana and PMI Karanganyar chair Dwi Cahyono, highlighted the use of digital payments and praised the rapid contribution of the Kerjo district, which received an award for the fastest fund collection.
