Palantir Shares Hit 52‑Week Low as Valuation Concerns Clash with Strong Growth

Palantir Technologies' stock slid more than 6% on Tuesday, reaching a 52‑week intraday low of about $119.76 and closing near $113‑$116, marking a drop of over 30% since the start of 2026. The decline occurred despite the company reporting first‑quarter 2026 revenue of $1.63 billion, an 85% year‑over‑year increase, and non‑GAAP earnings per share of $0.33, up 154%.

Analysts highlighted the company's high valuation metrics—trailing P/E around 134, forward P/E about 81, and price‑sales ratio of 59 versus a NASDAQ average of roughly 5.5—as a key risk factor. Palantir's Remaining Deal Value (RDV) has nearly doubled to $11.8 billion, with $2.4 billion of new contracts signed in the quarter, indicating demand for its AI‑driven data platform exceeds its current revenue capture.

The stock also reacted to broader sector pressures, including expectations of higher interest rates and intensified competition from AI‑native rivals such as OpenAI and Anthropic. Additionally, a Reuters report noted that France's domestic intelligence agency plans to replace Palantir tools with software from French firm ChapsVision, underscoring potential contract losses.

Investors will watch Palantir’s upcoming second‑quarter earnings report, scheduled for August 3, to see whether the company can translate its sizable contract pipeline into sustained revenue growth.
