Palantir expands US defense footprint amid insider sales and surveillance concerns

Palantir Technologies is experiencing a period of significant operational growth alongside scrutiny regarding insider trading and social implications. The company’s Maven Smart System has become a ‘Program of Record’ within the US defense budget, with the Pentagon’s FY2027 budget proposal allocating $2.3 billion over five years for Maven and the Joint Fires Network. On the financial side, CEO Alexander Karp recently sold approximately 492,000 shares, totaling roughly $86.06 million, as part of a Rule-10b5-1 plan related to tax obligations for vested RSUs.

In Europe, the deployment of Palantir’s ‘Gotham’ software by police authorities has raised concerns regarding data-driven social control. Critics argue that the technology facilitates mass data analysis and predictive policing, potentially accelerating a shift toward preemptive surveillance and increasing long-term dependency on US-based platforms.
