Palantir CEO Alex Karp warns AI firms as “wildly unlikable” and defends Anthropic chief
Palantir chief executive Alex Karp told employees that many artificial‑intelligence companies are “wildly unlikable,” accusing them of avoiding questions about how they build models without infringing on others’ intellectual property and of profiting from token‑based pricing. He said, “They are actually unwilling to respond to any questions about: How do you build the models without ripping off someone’s IP… They do this over and over.”
Karp singled out Anthropic’s CEO Dario Amodei, stating that Amodei “is not the caricature that many people, most Americans, believe.” He defended the need for “sovereign AI,” urging firms to keep their data in‑house rather than handing it to third‑party providers such as OpenAI or Anthropic.
He also warned that AI poses real dangers that will require regulation, noting recent security incidents at OpenAI and comparing excessive token spending to “porn addiction.” Karp emphasized Palantir’s forward‑deployed engineer model as a responsible alternative to firms he said “sell tokens” without adequate safeguards.
