Palantir secures $90 million NNSA contract for nuclear safety analytics

Palantir has secured a $89.9 million contract with the Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) to support its Safety Analytics, Forecasting and Evaluating Reporting (SAFER) project. The five-year agreement aims to convert vast amounts of data into actionable insights to assist NNSA decision-makers regarding the safety of the nation's nuclear weapons stockpile and its 400 hazardous facilities.

This federal contract is part of a broader strategic push by the Denver-based company to diversify its revenue streams beyond its traditional defense and intelligence work. Palantir has increasingly expanded into the commercial sector, establishing partnerships with media and marketing firms such as Fox News Digital, USA Today Co., and Zeta Global. While some media partnerships, specifically with USA Today Co., have faced internal scrutiny from employees regarding data security and editorial independence, the company continues to pursue commercial data opportunities to stabilize its business.
