Valencian Community prepares for October 9th commemorations and transport changes
The Valencian Community is preparing for various commemorations and changes related to the October 9th holiday. In Valencia, the sword of King Jaume I will be displayed in a civic procession for the first time in fifty years to mark the 750th anniversary of his death. This event is accompanied by a large security deployment of 1,300 National Police officers.
Simultaneously, the Comissió 9 d'Octubre has called for a demonstration under the slogan “Guanyem el país” (Let's win the country). The march aims to defend linguistic rights, public education, and regional autonomy, while also addressing the aftermath of the 2024 DANA catastrophe.
In Alicante, the public transport system (TAM and TRAM) is implementing new fare structures. This includes the introduction of the “Móbilis” monthly passes, which offer unlimited travel for 30 days. The monthly pass is priced at 35 euros, while the youth version (Móbilis Mensual Jove) is 29.75 euros, aiming to align Alicante's system with those in Valencia and Castellón.
Cultural events also include a free concert by the Orquestra de València at the Palau de la Música to celebrate the regional holiday, featuring works by Manuel Palau and Manuel de Falla.
