Palazzo Adorno to be illuminated in blue for Sign Language Day

The headquarters of the President of the Province of Lecce, Palazzo Adorno, will be illuminated in blue on Wednesday, September 23, to observe the International Day of Sign Languages.

The initiative, titled ‘Blue Light for Sign Languages,’ was organized by the Lecce section of the National Association of the Deaf (Ens) in collaboration with the World Federation of the Deaf. The blue lighting serves to raise public awareness regarding deafness and to support the recognition and protection of the more than 200 different sign languages used globally.

Fabio Tarantino, President of the Province, stated that accessibility should be an ordinary criterion in service design rather than a subsequent intervention. The event aligns with a United Nations resolution aimed at promoting the legal recognition of national sign languages.
