Palazzo dei Diamanti hosts major modern art exhibition

A major art exhibition titled ‘From Monet to Van Gogh to Kandinsky: New Perspectives on Nature and Modernity’ is opening at Palazzo dei Diamanti. Running from September 19 until January 10, 2027, the exhibition features over 120 works that trace the evolution of painting from the 19th to the 20th century.

Many of the masterpieces are on loan from the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam, supplemented by works from various Italian public and private collections. The exhibition includes pieces by prominent artists such as Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Piet Mondrian, Wassily Kandinsky, and Pablo Picasso.

Curated by Sandra Kisters and Vasilij Gusella, the show explores the transition from direct observation of nature to the complete dissolution of reality through abstraction. The exhibition also features a multisensory path titled ‘From Lived Nature to Interior Landscape,’ which utilizes sound and scent to engage visitors' hearing and smell, connecting the visual art to the atmosphere of the natural and urban worlds.
