Palazzo dei Diamanti hosts major modern art exhibition in Ferrara

The exhibition ‘From Monet to Van Gogh to Kandinsky: New Perspectives on Nature and Modernity’ has opened at Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara. Organized by the Fondazione Ferrara Arte in collaboration with the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, the showcase features 120 works that trace the evolution of European painting from the 19th to the 20th century.

The exhibition explores the transition from direct natural observation, seen in the Barbizon School and Impressionism, to the dissolution of reality through Post-Impressionism and Futurism. The curated path is designed as a multisensory experience titled ‘From lived nature to the interior landscape,’ incorporating sounds and scents to enhance the viewing of the artworks.

During the presentation, Vittorio Sgarbi described the exhibition as an ‘international undertaking’ that demonstrates Ferrara’s ability to compete with major European museums. The exhibition will remain open to the public until January 10, 2027.
