Palazzo Gattini and Palazzo Daniele Transform into Luxury Hotels in Italy

Palazzo Gattini Luxury Hotel, located at the highest point of the Civita in Matera, occupies a historic palace that belonged to the Gattini family for more than six centuries. Restored to preserve its 16th‑century origins and 18th‑century layout, the five‑star property offers individually designed rooms, a spa set in ancient cisterns, and the restaurant Le Bubbole, which highlights local Basilicata ingredients such as Pane di Matera IGP and regional olive oil.

Palazzo Daniele, a 19th‑century palace in Gagliano del Capo, Puglia, was built in 1861 for the Daniele family and later acquired by Francesco Petrucci. Petrucci commissioned a restoration with architects Roberto Palomba and Ludovica Serafini, integrating original frescoes, mosaic floors and historic ceramic jars with contemporary artworks and a Michelin‑recognized dining experience. The hotel now serves as a cultural hub for visitors exploring the Salento coast and the meeting point of the Adriatic and Ionian seas.

Both projects illustrate a growing trend in Italy of converting historic aristocratic residences into luxury hospitality venues that blend heritage architecture with modern comforts and art.
