Palazzo Te hosts ‘Inventare la natura’ exhibition in Mantua

The Fondazione Palazzo Te has launched the exhibition ‘Inventare la natura. Leonardo, Arcimboldo, Caravaggio’ in Mantua. Running from September 26, 2026, to January 10, 2027, the event is held in the monumental halls of Palazzo Te to mark the Cinquecento anniversary.

Curators Barbara Furlotti and Guido Rebecchini describe the exhibition as a dialogue between the Renaissance concept of nature and contemporary reflection. The program explores nature as both a creative and destructive force, examining how 16th-century artists and naturalists sought to understand and replicate the natural world through observation, technical skill, and the use of exotic materials.

Featured works include pieces by Leonardo da Vinci, Arcimboldo, and Caravaggio, alongside sculptures, drawings, and scientific objects. The exhibition is designed to interact with the architectural and decorative elements of Palazzo Te, specifically the works of Giulio Romano, to create a cohesive narrative regarding the relationship between humanity and the environment.
